Made in only 7 hours, Conk It is a retro style multiplayer game which takes the gameplay back to basics, while still being addictive and enjoyable to play. As a group, we were given a brief to create a monochrome game using only basic 2D shapes - and this is what we achieved!
About the Game
Conk It sees you scoring goals against your opponent by hitting materialising squares that appear from a mysterious void in the centre of the world. Due to the fast paced nature of the game, players need to quickly jump across gaps to defend their goal as well as powering up their hit attack to bash a square into their opponents goal. Trick shots can be made by strategically wall jumping up areas to catch the opponent off guard!

What's the aim of the game?
Score more goals than the other player! The first player to reach 15 points wins the game. Be careful not to fall down the gaps in the world as this gives your opponent an easy advantage to sneak in a few goals before you're back in the game!

My role:
The roles I chose to undertake in this project include the creation of the HUD as well as creating the physical objects to be used as goals in the game, programming the goal behaviour , win conditions and score calculation in the game.

Unlike our previous game jam games, this one required us to go back to basics and therefore I had to disregard any "snazzy" HUD graphics I would usually consider creating. Instead, I opted to go for an "old school" retro feel with the HUD to mimic the feel of the game. This is why I chose to use the classic digital font.
